Human Resources Generalist – Manufacturing

About This Position

Plastipak Packaging, Inc. is seeking an HR Generalist to champion employee experience and workforce development at our Champaign County facility. You'll own the complete employee lifecycle, fostering a workplace where manufacturing associates feel valued, take pride in their work, and see themselves as part of our community. This on-site role offers the opportunity to shape organizational culture and drive meaningful impact across our operations.

What You'll Do

• Lead and execute the Employee Engagement program, building initiatives that strengthen workplace culture and morale
• Manage the full employment lifecycle: recruitment, hiring, onboarding, transfers, promotions, and offboarding
• Partner with manufacturing managers and department leads to address employee relations and support team performance
• Oversee compliance with employment laws, HR policies, and company procedures throughout the facility
• Develop and recommend HR policies and programs that improve retention and operational effectiveness
• Support training and development efforts that build skills and advance employee career paths

Who We're Looking For

• HR generalist experience or equivalent multi-functional HR role
• Knowledge of employment law, compliance, and HR best practices in manufacturing
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills across all organizational levels
• Proven ability to design and execute employee engagement and cultural initiatives
• Experience managing the complete employee lifecycle from hire to retire
• Proficiency with HR systems and Microsoft Office applications
• Problem-solving mindset with strong attention to detail and discretion
