About the Role

New Virginia Majority (NVM) seeks conscious and skilled individuals with a deep commitment to racial and economic justice to join our team as a Housing Justice Community Organizer in Richmond, VA. This is an entry-level full-time position focused on building power in working-class communities of color across the Commonwealth.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

• Organize and mobilize community members for housing justice campaigns
• Build relationships with local stakeholders to advance policy goals
• Develop and implement strategies to address systemic issues in housing access and affordability
• Collaborate with team members on various projects and initiatives
• Engage in grassroots organizing activities, including door-to-door canvassing and community events

What We're Looking For

• A strong commitment to racial and economic justice
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
• Experience or willingness to learn about grassroots organizing and community mobilization
• A passion for working in communities of color
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Suite
