This is an unpaid volunteer opportunity for those called to provide dignity, comfort, and human connection at end of life.

About the Role

As a hospice volunteer with Serenity Hospice Care Pennsylvania, you become part of a care community dedicated to honoring each patient's wishes and supporting their emotional and spiritual wellbeing. Your presence and compassion directly improve the experience of patients and their families throughout the Wyoming Valley region.

What You'll Do

• Provide compassionate companionship to hospice patients during visits
• Offer emotional support and attentive listening to patients and family members
• Assist with non-medical comfort care needs such as reading, conversation, or simple errands
• Help create a peaceful, dignified environment for patients in their final days
• Participate in team communication to ensure continuity of volunteer care
• Respect and honor patient privacy, wishes, and cultural values

• Emotional maturity and the ability to find meaning in end-of-life care
• Reliability and consistency in volunteer service
• Strong communication skills and the capacity to listen without judgment

• Openness to working collaboratively with nurses, social workers, and families
