NAES is hiring a full-time High Voltage Substation/Transmission Technician Lead in Triborough, Manhattan to help operate and maintain critical 345 kV transmission infrastructure. About the Role

As the High Voltage Substation/Transmission Technician Lead, you will oversee the upkeep and reliable performance of high-voltage substation and transmission equipment in Triborough, Manhattan. The position supports facilities tied to the Long Island Sound Cable, a 345 kV transmission circuit commissioned in 1991 that runs roughly 26.3 miles between Con Edison's Sprain Brook Substation in Yonkers and the East Garden City Substation, including the South Transition Station and assets such as a 3-phase, 150 MVAr, 345 kV shunt reactor.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day operation, inspection, and maintenance of high-voltage substation and transmission systems.
• Guide and mentor technicians, coordinating crews to complete work safely and on schedule.
• Maintain equipment including shunt reactors, switchgear, and related 345 kV transmission components.
• Diagnose faults, troubleshoot issues, and carry out corrective and preventive maintenance.
• Enforce safety protocols, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices on site.
• Document inspections, testing results, and maintenance activities accurately.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience working with high-voltage substation and transmission equipment.
• Strong understanding of electrical systems at transmission voltages, including 345 kV apparatus.
• Demonstrated leadership ability to direct and develop a technical crew.
• Sound knowledge of electrical safety standards and field maintenance procedures.
• Willingness to work full-time and on-site in Triborough, Manhattan.
