Field Operations HV Technician III (Yellow Pine Solar)

NextEra Energy is recruiting a Field Operations HV Technician III to support the Yellow Pine Solar facility in Mount Charleston, Clark County, Nevada. This is a full-time position where you'll maintain and troubleshoot high-voltage electrical systems that power utility-scale solar generation.

About the Role

As an HV Technician III in field operations, you'll take on a senior technical role managing high-voltage infrastructure for solar energy production. You'll work directly on electrical generation equipment, distribution systems, and transmission components in a dynamic renewable energy environment. This position combines hands-on technical expertise with mentorship and coordination responsibilities.

What You'll Do

• Execute preventive and corrective maintenance on high-voltage electrical systems and solar generation equipment
• Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical faults in distribution and transmission infrastructure
• Conduct inspections and testing of HV components using specialized diagnostic equipment
• Apply OSHA safety standards and utility industry best practices to all field operations
• Document maintenance activities, test results, and system performance data
• Guide and mentor junior field technicians on technical procedures and safety protocols
• Respond to urgent equipment failures and coordinate emergency repairs
• Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to enhance system reliability and performance

What We're Looking For

• 5+ years of field experience as an HV technician or equivalent electrical systems role
• In-depth knowledge of high-voltage systems, solar technology, and power distribution principles
• Hands-on proficiency with electrical testing and diagnostic equipment
• Proven track record of working safely at heights and in challenging field environments
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with meticulous attention to detail
• Demonstrated ability to lead technical teams and work independently in field settings
• Valid driver's license and reliable access to the Mount Charleston work location
• Journeyman electrician license or utility technician credentials preferred
