Field Engineer – Heavy Civil – Southwest District

Kiewit is hiring a Field Engineer for the Southwest District based in Hillview, Idaho. This full-time, entry-level position with our Field Operations team offers the opportunity to develop your career in heavy civil and transportation construction while working on impactful infrastructure projects.

About the Role

As a Field Engineer, you'll serve as a technical resource on active construction sites, supporting project teams through all phases of heavy civil work. This role offers direct exposure to real-world construction challenges and solutions, helping you build foundational experience and professional judgment in a collaborative environment.

What You'll Do

• Assist with field operations and coordination on transportation construction projects
• Perform site inspections and document field conditions and progress
• Support layout, staking, and verification of construction elements
• Monitor and ensure compliance with safety requirements and specifications
• Maintain accurate daily records, reports, and project documentation
• Collaborate with project managers, foremen, and engineering teams
• Identify and assist in resolving field challenges and change orders

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field (or equivalent experience)
• Valid driver's license and ability to work in the Southwest District
• Understanding of construction practices, blueprint reading, and safety standards
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Detail-oriented with excellent documentation abilities
• Commitment to safety and professional conduct on job sites
• Willingness to learn and adapt in a hands-on construction environment
