Federal & State Criminal Defense Attorney

Guirguis Law PA seeks a dedicated Federal & State Criminal Defense Attorney to join our criminal defense team in Raleigh, Wake County. This is a full-time position offering the opportunity to represent clients in complex federal and state criminal matters across North Carolina.

About the Role

As a Federal & State Criminal Defense Attorney at Guirguis Law PA, you will provide comprehensive legal representation in high-stakes criminal defense cases. You'll work with an expanding team committed to protecting clients' rights and delivering vigorous advocacy in both federal and state courts. This role encompasses trial preparation, client counseling, motion practice, and appellate work across a range of criminal matters.

What You'll Do

• Represent clients in federal and state criminal proceedings, including investigations, charges, trial, and sentencing
• Conduct legal research and develop defense strategies for complex criminal cases
• Prepare and file motions, briefs, and other legal documents
• Handle post-conviction relief matters, including appeals and petitions
• Interview witnesses, review evidence, and manage case files with meticulous attention to detail
• Communicate regularly with clients to explain legal options and case developments
• Travel periodically throughout North Carolina for court appearances and client meetings
• Collaborate with co-counsel and support staff to build compelling defense cases

What We're Looking For

• J.D. from an accredited law school; licensed to practice in North Carolina
• Strong background in criminal defense or related legal practice
• Excellent legal writing, research, and analytical skills
• Proven ability to work independently and manage multiple cases
• Detail-oriented approach to legal work and case management
• Genuine motivation to defend clients' constitutional rights
• Professional demeanor and effective communication abilities
• Willingness to travel within North Carolina as needed
