Division Chief of Trauma/Critical Care, Department of Surgery

The University at Buffalo, through the Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences Department of Surgery, is recruiting a Division Chief of Trauma/Critical Care to lead our trauma and critical care surgical services in Buffalo, Pennsylvania. This is a full-time faculty position at our affiliated teaching hospitals, offering an exceptional opportunity to direct clinical care, physician education, and academic advancement in trauma and critical care.

About the Role

As Division Chief of Trauma/Critical Care, you will provide strategic leadership for trauma and critical care surgery across our teaching hospital enterprise. Your appointment will be at the Clinical Associate or Full Professor level, based on your background and accomplishments. You will oversee clinical operations, guide faculty and trainee development, advance patient outcomes, and shape the future of trauma and critical care at our institution.

What You'll Do

• Direct trauma and critical care surgical services across multiple affiliated teaching hospitals
• Supervise clinical faculty, surgical fellows, residents, and medical students
• Establish clinical standards, protocols, and quality improvement initiatives
• Contribute to research and scholarly endeavors in trauma and critical care surgery
• Participate in departmental leadership, strategic planning, and institutional governance
• Maintain an active clinical practice in trauma and critical care

What We're Looking For

• Medical degree (MD or DO) with board certification or eligibility in general surgery and trauma/critical care surgery
• Extensive clinical experience in trauma and critical care surgery, with demonstrated leadership capabilities
• Strong track record of clinical excellence, medical education, and academic achievement
• Commitment to resident and fellow training, faculty mentorship, and advancing academic medicine
• Collaborative leadership style with the vision to advance trauma services and critical care
