About the Role
You'll serve as Director of Special Education at this public charter school, overseeing all special education services and working alongside a dedicated, collaborative team. With part-time administrative support, you'll focus on program strategy and leadership. What You'll Do
- Design and implement comprehensive special education programs compliant with IDEA, Section 504, and Rhode Island special education regulations
- Lead the IEP development process, ensuring individualized plans reflect each student's learning needs and goals
- Supervise, mentor, and evaluate special education staff to maintain high standards of instruction and support
- Partner with classroom teachers to foster inclusive practices and differentiated instruction across all grade levels
- Analyze student data and progress monitoring results to guide instructional and support decisions
- Manage special education budgets, staffing, and resource allocation
- Advocate for students with disabilities and remove barriers to full participation in school programs
- Maintain accurate IEP and compliance documentation
What We're Looking For
- Valid Rhode Island certification as Director of Special Education or Special Education Administrator
- Demonstrated leadership experience in special education or direct experience teaching students with learning disabilities
- Strong understanding of IDEA, Section 504, and state regulations governing special education
- Excellent communication skills and ability to build trusting relationships with students, families, and staff
- Genuine passion for inclusive, student-centered education and continuous program improvement
- Experience with special education assessment, data analysis, and progress monitoring systems
- Collaborative approach and comfort working in a charter school culture
