About the Role
As Director of Proton Physics, you will provide scientific and operational leadership for the proton therapy program across The University of Kansas Cancer Center and The University of Kansas Health System. The position calls for an accomplished medical physics leader ready to shape the direction of advanced proton treatment delivery, working alongside the Department of Radiation Oncology to advance high-quality, patient-centered cancer care.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct the physics operations of the proton therapy program at the Bloch Radiation Oncology Pavilion.
- Guide the implementation, commissioning, and ongoing quality assurance of proton treatment systems.
- Partner with radiation oncologists, dosimetrists, and clinical teams to ensure safe, precise treatment delivery.
- Provide leadership and mentorship to the medical physics staff supporting proton therapy.
- Support the academic, research, and clinical missions of the Department of Radiation Oncology.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated leadership experience in medical physics, ideally within radiation oncology and proton therapy.
- Strong background in the clinical and technical aspects of proton treatment delivery.
