Director of Operations Electric Transmission Texas (ETT)

American Electric Power seeks a Director of Operations for Electric Transmission Texas (ETT) based in Williams, Tulsa County. This full-time leadership position oversees all operational aspects of our transmission infrastructure, from project conception through asset deployment and long-term maintenance.

About the Role

As Director of Operations for ETT, you'll lead the strategic execution of transmission asset operations across our Texas service territory. This role encompasses the full lifecycle of our infrastructure—from evaluating and developing capital projects, managing construction execution, to ensuring reliable operations and regulatory compliance of completed assets. You'll be the driving force behind maintaining service excellence while meeting all operational and compliance requirements.

What You'll Do

• Oversee the development and execution of capital projects for transmission infrastructure expansion and modernization
• Direct construction activities and ensure projects meet timeline, budget, and quality standards
• Manage day-to-day operations of ETT transmission assets to ensure reliable performance and grid stability
• Establish and implement maintenance programs that extend asset life and minimize downtime
• Ensure all operations remain in full compliance with NERC, FERC, and state regulatory requirements
• Lead and develop operations teams to build a culture of safety, reliability, and excellence
• Monitor asset performance metrics and implement continuous improvement initiatives

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, power systems, or related engineering discipline
• 15+ years of experience in power transmission or utility operations, with 5+ years in a leadership capacity
• Deep knowledge of transmission system operations, NERC standards, and regulatory compliance
• Proven track record managing large capital projects from conception through commissioning
• Strong leadership skills with ability to motivate technical teams and drive operational excellence
• Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities under pressure
• Knowledge of Texas transmission landscape and ERCOT market operations preferred
