CSOC Threat Management Specialist (Tier 2)

Nwis is seeking a CSOC Threat Management Specialist (Tier 2) to join their cybersecurity operations center at one of their two locations. As a full-time member of the team, you'll play a critical role in detecting, investigating, and managing security threats across organizational infrastructure.

What This Role Involves

The CSOC Threat Management Specialist (Tier 2) position is an intermediate-level cybersecurity operations role focused on threat detection, analysis, and response. You'll work within a collaborative security operations environment, using industry-standard monitoring and investigation tools to identify and assess security incidents. This role requires technical expertise, analytical rigor, and the ability to respond effectively when threats emerge.

What You'll Do

• Monitor security alerts and anomalies generated by SIEM and endpoint protection platforms
• Investigate and validate potential security threats to determine legitimacy and severity
• Document findings and escalate incidents to senior team members or specialized response teams when necessary
• Participate in incident response procedures and coordinate with other security functions
• Analyze logs and network traffic to identify patterns indicative of compromise or malicious activity
• Maintain accurate records of incidents, investigations, and responses
• Collaborate with the broader security team to improve detection capabilities and response procedures

What You Bring

• Experience working in a cybersecurity operations center, security monitoring, or incident response environment
• Knowledge of security tools, SIEM platforms, and endpoint detection and response systems
• Understanding of common attack vectors, threat indicators, and compromise assessment techniques
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work methodically through complex technical investigations
• Clear communication skills for documenting incidents and escalating issues effectively
• Capability to manage multiple concurrent tasks in a fast-paced environment
• Relevant security certifications such as Security+, CEH, or GIAC credentials are valued
