Role Overview
The Village of Carol Stream is seeking a Code Professional to join our customer-focused Community Development Department. This role involves performing building and property maintenance inspections and code enforcement work. The ideal candidate will have experience in documenting and initiating code enforcement cases, preparing and issuing various notices, and testifying in court.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Conducting building and property maintenance inspections to ensure compliance with codes and regulations
- Documenting findings and initiating appropriate code enforcement actions as necessary
- Preparing and issuing courtesy notices, violation notices, and citations in a timely manner
- Testifying in court on code enforcement matters when required
- Maintaining accurate records of inspections and enforcement activities
What We're Looking For
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in building inspection, code enforcement, or a related field
- Strong knowledge of local, state, and federal codes and regulations relevant to property maintenance and construction
- Excellent communication skills for issuing notices and testifying in court
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Prior experience with computer systems for record-keeping and documentation is preferred
