About the Role

As Band Co-Director at Lourdes High School, you'll share leadership of our dynamic music program alongside a dedicated colleague. This position begins August 13, 2026, and centers on delivering comprehensive music instruction to secondary students in grades 9 through 12. You'll combine artistry with pedagogy to develop musicians' technical skills, musical understanding, and ensemble proficiency.

What You'll Do

• Conduct and instruct concert band, jazz band, and other instrumental ensembles for grades 9–12
• Create lesson plans, curriculum materials, and rehearsal schedules aligned with music education standards
• Assess student progress through performance evaluations, musicianship benchmarks, and written assessments
• Prepare students for concerts, competitions, and festivals throughout the school year
• Collaborate with your co-director to coordinate teaching strategies, repertoire selection, and program development
• Support student recruitment and retention for the band program
• Mentor individual musicians and foster a culture of musical growth and ensemble excellence

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's degree in Music Education, Music Performance, or related field
• Valid state teaching certification in music or eligibility for certification
• Proficiency on one or more band instruments and strong conducting skills
• Demonstrated experience teaching instrumental music at the secondary level
• Knowledge of band repertoire, music theory, and ensemble pedagogy
• Ability to manage classroom dynamics, motivate diverse learners, and communicate effectively with students, families, and colleagues
• Commitment to inclusive, collaborative leadership and professional development
