AVP OF PLANT OPERATIONS AND MAINTENANCE

Cooper University Health Care is seeking an accomplished AVP of Plant Operations and Maintenance to lead facility infrastructure and engineering services across our Camden, Camden County campus. This full-time, on-site leadership role is central to keeping our award-winning health system safe, reliable, and ready to deliver exceptional patient care.

About the Role

As Assistant Vice President of Plant Operations and Maintenance, you will direct the teams and systems that keep Cooper University Health Care's physical environment running around the clock. Based in Camden, this position blends strategic facility planning with hands-on operational oversight, ensuring our buildings, utilities, and critical infrastructure meet the high standards expected of a leading academic health system.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day plant operations, maintenance, and engineering functions across Cooper facilities in Camden.
• Lead, develop, and manage maintenance, mechanical, and facilities staff to maintain a safe, efficient environment.
• Ensure building systems — including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and life-safety equipment — operate reliably and remain compliant with healthcare regulations and codes.
• Plan and prioritize preventive maintenance, capital improvements, and infrastructure upgrades.
• Manage operating and project budgets, vendor relationships, and service contracts.
• Partner with clinical and administrative leaders to support uninterrupted, high-quality patient care.

Qualifications

• Proven leadership experience in plant operations, facilities management, or maintenance engineering, ideally within a hospital or large institutional setting.
• Strong working knowledge of building systems, regulatory compliance, and life-safety standards.
• Demonstrated ability to manage teams, budgets, and complex capital projects.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Availability to work on-site in Camden, Camden County, in a full-time capacity.
