About the Role

This full‑time adjunct position supports the Bard Early Colleges mission by delivering a rigorous liberal arts sequence that bridges secondary and postsecondary education. What You'll Do

• Plan and teach humanities courses that follow the Bard Sequence framework for 9th‑ and 10th‑grade students.
• Develop syllabi, lesson plans, and assessment tools aligned with college‑level learning outcomes.
• Provide timely feedback on written assignments, projects, and examinations to support student growth.
• Participate in faculty meetings, professional development workshops, and interdisciplinary planning sessions.
• Advising students on academic pathways and connecting course material to broader liberal arts themes.
• Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, and student progress in accordance with institutional policies.

What We're Looking For

• A master’s degree or higher in a humanities discipline (e.g., literature, history, philosophy, cultural studies) or a closely related field.
• Previous teaching experience at the college or advanced high school level, preferably with early college or dual‑enrollment populations.
• Strong ability to design inclusive, discussion‑based curricula that encourage critical thinking and analytical writing.
• Excellent communication skills and a commitment to fostering an equitable learning environment.
• Flexibility to adapt instructional strategies for diverse learner needs and to collaborate with a team of educators.
• Eligibility to work in the United States; Bard College will sponsor visa documentation where applicable.
