Full Stack Engineer - Billings & Subscriptions at SumUp in Berlin, Germany (Full Time, No Remote)
The Opportunity
At SumUp, our Billing and Subscriptions team is pivotal to how we support millions of transactions across 37 markets. We're currently rebuilding and expanding this foundation to support new sales models, market expansions, and financial integrations that directly impact small businesses using our products. This role will be central in driving these changes.
Core Duties
- Build and maintain backend services and frontend interfaces across billing, contracts, and merchant wallet products.
- Contribute to the refactoring of key billing components to enhance reliability, data security, and alignment with our wider payments platform.
- Support the expansion of billing and wallet capabilities into new markets, ensuring localisation requirements are met.
- Participate in weekly support rotations, handling customer queries and maintaining platform stability.
- Collaborate closely with senior engineers and product managers to deliver end-to-end features from implementation through production.
Who We're Looking For
We are seeking a Full Stack Engineer with solid experience in building full-stack applications, particularly with a backend focus. Experience with Node.js or Go is ideal but not required. You should be comfortable working with both relational databases such as PostgreSQL or MySQL and non-relational databases like DynamoDB, MongoDB, or Redis. Practical frontend experience using React and Next.js, with the ability to write clean, typed code in TypeScript or JavaScript, is essential. Strong communication skills in English, both written and spoken, are required.
