What This Role Involves

As a Cultural Advisor with Lifestyle Solutions based in Kununurra, you will play a critical role in strengthening cultural planning for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people in out-of-home care. Your primary responsibilities include leading the development of Cultural Support Plans, guiding teams to ensure culturally safe and compliant practices across services, and partnering with communities to enhance outcomes.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

• Develop and implement Cultural Support Plans for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people in out-of-home care
• Guide and support multidisciplinary teams to ensure culturally safe practices are integrated into all aspects of service delivery
• Collaborate with community members, stakeholders, and other organizations to strengthen cultural outcomes for the youth served by Lifestyle Solutions
• Ensure compliance with relevant policies, standards, and guidelines related to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural support in child and family services
• Provide mentorship and training to staff on cultural competency and best practices in working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities

Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

• A relevant tertiary qualification in social work, Indigenous studies, or a related field
• Demonstrated experience as a Cultural Advisor or similar role within child and family services
• In-depth knowledge of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, histories, and contemporary issues
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships with diverse communities
• A commitment to promoting cultural safety and equity in all aspects of work
