Assistant Manager I

Position Summary

As an Assistant Manager I, you'll work alongside the store manager to oversee daily operations, supervise store associates, and ensure your location meets company standards for customer experience, safety, and profitability. You'll be the go-to leader when the store manager is away, responsible for opening and closing procedures, staff scheduling, loss prevention, and maintaining a clean, well-stocked store. Your leadership sets the tone for the team and directly affects how customers experience Dollartree.

Responsibilities

• Supervise, train, and mentor store associates; manage schedules to meet business needs
• Open and close the store, verify cash handling, reconcile registers, and safeguard company assets
• Ensure all areas of the store are clean, organized, and merchandise is properly displayed and stocked
• Monitor inventory levels and assist with freight receiving and processing
• Uphold company policies regarding loss prevention, safety, and compliance
• Support the store manager in achieving sales targets and controlling operating expenses
• Address customer concerns and resolve issues to maintain satisfaction and loyalty

What We're Looking For

• High school diploma or equivalent; 1–2 years of retail or customer service experience preferred
• Proven ability to lead, motivate, and communicate with diverse teams
• Strong math and cash-handling skills; attention to detail
• Ability to stand for extended periods and lift/carry merchandise
• Flexibility to work retail hours, including evenings and weekends as scheduled
• Commitment to excellent customer service and store cleanliness standards
