Americanoperator is seeking an experienced Portfolio CEO to lead a commercial distributor business. This full-time position in Allen Town offers the rare opportunity to direct a profitable, established operation while building meaningful equity ownership through strong performance.

Role Overview

This is a CEO leadership role within Americanoperator's network of acquired commercial distribution companies. You'll step into a stable, profitable business with existing customer relationships and experienced staff infrastructure already in place. Rather than a turnaround challenge, this opportunity focuses on leveraging a solid foundation to drive accelerated growth across new products, customer segments, and geographic markets.

Americanoperator manages sourcing and comprehensive due diligence for all acquisitions. As the selected candidate, you'll contribute your distribution industry expertise during this process before assuming full P&L responsibility post-close. You'll receive ongoing strategic support, resources, and organizational partnership while maintaining operational independence and decision-making authority. A transparent pathway to significant equity ownership—beginning at 10% and scaling with performance—creates direct incentive alignment and long-term wealth potential.

Core Duties

  • Direct complete P&L ownership including financial performance, annual budgeting, and daily operations
  • Build and strengthen relationships with suppliers, employees, and customer base immediately following acquisition
  • Optimize product inventory and SKU selection based on customer demand patterns and upsell opportunities
  • Lead system modernization initiatives in inventory management and customer relationship management platforms
  • Travel to market locations regularly for sales team coaching and customer relationship development
  • Build and reinforce organizational culture centered on accountability and performance excellence
  • Facilitate quarterly strategic board meetings with Americanoperator partners
  • Collaborate on multi-year strategy development, budgeting cycles, and growth planning

What We're Looking For

  • Minimum 7 years leading B2B sales teams with hands-on coaching and development experience
  • At least 4 years of direct hiring, team development, and termination responsibility
  • Demonstrated experience owning company P&Ls and managing operating budgets
  • Background in MRO or industrial distribution across commercial, healthcare, government, and manufacturing customer segments
  • Ability to navigate C-suite relationships and close high-value contracts
  • Experience recruiting, developing, and retaining high-performing sales teams in relationship-driven markets
  • Regular travel capability for field operations and customer engagement
  • Preferred: prior experience in family-owned or private equity-backed businesses
  • Preferred: demonstrated success building cultures with strong employee retention rates
  • Preferred: small business leadership with teams of 50 or fewer employees
  • Preferred: military leadership background

Compensation packages include base salary ($135,000–$175,000), performance-based bonus opportunities (20%), profit distributions, and meaningful equity participation beginning at 10% ownership with potential increases based on performance. A comprehensive benefits package includes medical, vision, and dental coverage. Relocation is required if you're not already based in or near your assigned market.
