Family School Liaison

Independence School District seeks an experienced Family School Liaison to join our team and support families and students across our district. This full-time position offers an opportunity to make a meaningful impact by fostering strong connections between families and schools.

About This Position

The Family School Liaison role is central to building partnerships that strengthen student success and family engagement. You'll serve as a bridge between families and school staff, working to ensure that every family feels supported and connected to their child's educational journey. Based district-wide, you'll travel to various school locations as needed to fulfill your responsibilities. This position is available for the 2026-2027 school year.

Core Duties

• Conduct home visits to meet families in their own environments and provide direct support
• Deliver parenting education programs and workshops that build family capacity
• Manage cases for families requiring ongoing support and resource coordination
• Solve problems collaboratively with families, school staff, and community partners
• Respond to and de-escalate crisis situations with compassion and professionalism
• Connect families with community resources, social services, and support systems
• Facilitate communication between school personnel and families to remove barriers to engagement
• Document interactions and maintain accurate records of services provided

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's degree in social work, social services, human services, or a closely related field
• Minimum two years of professional experience in social services or a related field
• Demonstrated experience conducting home visits and providing family-centered support
• Strong case management and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work effectively with diverse families and community members
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
• Willingness to work flexible hours to meet family needs
