School Resource Officer

City of Aubrey is seeking a dedicated School Resource Officer to serve the Providence Village community in Denton County. This full-time law enforcement position combines public safety expertise with school-based community engagement to create safer, more secure learning environments.

Role Overview

As a School Resource Officer with City of Aubrey, you'll bridge law enforcement and education by providing comprehensive school safety and crime prevention services. This role requires both the technical law enforcement skills to investigate offenses and the interpersonal capacity to build trust with students and school staff. You'll work collaboratively with administrators, teachers, and counselors to address safety challenges while supporting positive youth development within our Providence Village schools.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

• Conduct criminal investigations related to offenses occurring on school property or involving students
• Counsel and mentor students, using conflict resolution skills to de-escalate hostile or volatile situations
• Make arrests and enforce state and local laws, ensuring public safety and accountability
• Question suspects and witnesses during investigations
• Perform crime prevention assessments and develop safety strategies for school facilities
• Maintain detailed reports and documentation of investigations and incidents
• Collaborate with school administrators on emergency response procedures and safety protocols
• Provide community education and outreach to students and families

What You Bring

• Valid Texas peace officer certification or eligibility for immediate certification
• Minimum 2–3 years of law enforcement experience (preferred)
• Strong investigative and report-writing skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, especially with youth
• Proven conflict de-escalation and problem-solving capabilities
• Ability to work independently and as part of a school-based team
• Physical fitness and readiness to meet law enforcement standards
• Valid Texas driver's license and a clean background
