What This Role Involves
As a travel RN in our Labor and Delivery assignment, you'll provide compassionate, evidence-based care to mothers and newborns during one of life's most transformative moments. Working 12-hour day shifts at 36 hours per week, you'll collaborate with physicians, midwives, and interdisciplinary teams to ensure safe, positive birth experiences. This travel nursing position allows you to expand your clinical expertise while serving families across Southern California.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor maternal and fetal vital signs, interpret fetal heart rate patterns, and respond to clinical changes with sound clinical judgment
- Provide direct patient care during active labor, delivery, and immediate postpartum recovery periods
- Administer medications and manage intravenous therapy under physician direction
- Educate patients and families about labor progression, pain management options, and postpartum recovery
- Maintain accurate, timely electronic health records and communicate effectively with the interdisciplinary care team
- Support infection prevention protocols and comply with all regulatory and institutional standards
Requirements
- Current, unrestricted RN license in California or ability to obtain reciprocity immediately
- Minimum 1–2 years of recent Labor and Delivery nursing experience
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification; ACLS and NRP certifications preferred
- Strong clinical assessment and communication skills with proven ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Valid Social Security number and ability to pass background check and drug screening
- Flexibility to work 12-hour day shifts and adapt to a travel nursing environment
