Hazelett Strip-Casting Corporation is hiring a full-time CNC Lathe Machinist for the 1st shift at our Camp Johnson facility in Chittenden County. We're building a team of skilled machinists who take pride in precision work and consistent quality.
What This Role Involves
As a CNC Lathe Machinist with Hazelett, you'll operate state-of-the-art computer-controlled lathe equipment to produce precision components according to detailed technical specifications. This is hands-on machining work where accuracy and attention matter every single shift. You'll be part of a manufacturing operation that serves diverse industries with high-quality materials and components, and your precision work directly enables that mission.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Set up and configure CNC lathes for production runs, programming parameters and tooling according to engineering specifications
- Load raw materials and manage the machining process from start to finish
- Monitor machine performance during operation, making real-time adjustments to hold tight tolerances
- Use precision measurement tools to verify finished components meet dimensional requirements
- Perform routine maintenance, troubleshoot equipment issues, and report mechanical concerns
- Conduct quality inspections on finished parts before release to the next stage
- Maintain detailed production records and communicate clearly with your supervisor
Qualifications
- Proven experience operating CNC lathes in a manufacturing or machine shop environment
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, prints, and CNC specifications
- Hands-on skill with precision measurement tools and gauges
- Strong problem-solving ability and willingness to take ownership of quality
