Senior Electrical Engineer 1 – Nuclear

Sargent Lundy is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer 1 for their nuclear operations team, based on-site in Oak Ridge, Tennessee (Knoxville area, Knox County). Join a dynamic project team focused on designing and optimizing electrical systems for next-generation nuclear power facilities.

Position Summary

As a Senior Electrical Engineer 1 in Nuclear Systems at Sargent Lundy, you'll lead the design, modification, and technical analysis of electrical systems that power advanced nuclear facilities. This is a full-time, on-site role (5 days per week) at the TRISO-X Fuel Fabrication Facility, where you'll collaborate with seasoned engineers and designers to solve complex challenges in nuclear energy infrastructure.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

• Design and review electrical systems for nuclear power plant installations and upgrades
• Conduct detailed technical analysis of existing electrical infrastructure and propose improvements
• Collaborate with cross-functional project teams to develop solutions for nuclear facility challenges
• Prepare engineering documentation, calculations, and technical specifications
• Review and approve designs produced by junior engineers and technical staff
• Ensure all electrical systems meet nuclear industry standards and regulatory requirements
• Support project timelines and milestones through technical leadership

Requirements

• Professional Engineering (PE) license or eligible for licensure in electrical engineering
• 5+ years of experience in electrical engineering with nuclear power plant or related nuclear systems background
• Strong knowledge of electrical design principles, power distribution, and control systems
• Familiarity with nuclear industry codes, standards, and regulatory frameworks
• Excellent technical communication and documentation skills
• Ability to work effectively in team-oriented project environments
• Willingness to work on-site full-time at the Oak Ridge facility
