Databricks Data Engineer – Manager – Consulting – Location OPEN

EY is hiring a Data Engineering Manager for our Consulting practice to lead the design and delivery of cloud-based data analytics solutions in Charlotte, Mecklenburg County. This full-time management role offers the opportunity to drive technical strategy, mentor engineering talent, and partner with clients to architect scalable data platforms.

About the Role

As a Data Engineering Manager at EY, you'll lead a team of engineers building enterprise data solutions on modern cloud platforms. Your focus will be on translating complex client requirements into robust, production-grade data pipelines and analytics infrastructure. You'll combine hands-on technical depth with people leadership, setting standards for data quality, security, and performance across engagements.

What You'll Do

• Lead engineering teams in the design, implementation, and optimization of cloud data platforms and analytics solutions
• Direct the development of data pipelines, ETL processes, and data warehousing strategies for enterprise clients
• Mentor and develop engineering staff, fostering technical growth and professional development within your team
• Partner with EY's consulting teams to understand client business needs and translate them into technical requirements
• Ensure data solutions meet enterprise standards for scalability, reliability, governance, and security
• Collaborate with architecture and infrastructure teams to integrate data platforms with client ecosystems
• Drive continuous improvement of engineering practices, tools, and methodologies

What We're Looking For

• 5+ years of professional experience in data engineering and analytics, with 2+ years in a management or technical leadership role
• Demonstrated expertise in cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and modern data stack technologies
• Strong experience with data engineering concepts: data modeling, pipeline orchestration, distributed processing
• Proven ability to lead and develop technical teams in a client-facing consulting environment
• Track record of delivering complex data solutions on time and within scope
• Excellent communication skills and ability to engage with both technical and business stakeholders
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or related field (or equivalent professional experience)
