Shop Custodian

Join U-Haul as a Shop Custodian at our Columbia, South Carolina location and help maintain a safe, organized, and efficient workplace. This full-time position is essential to our repair shop operations, where your attention to detail directly supports the work of our skilled technicians and the experience of our customers.

About the Role

As a Shop Custodian at U-Haul, you'll take ownership of maintaining our facility's cleanliness, safety, and organization. Working in a busy repair shop environment, you'll ensure that work areas, equipment, and common spaces are ready to support daily operations. Your commitment to standards helps our team work efficiently and keeps our customers' vehicles receiving the best care.

What You'll Do

• Clean and maintain all shop areas, including work bays, break rooms, offices, and restrooms
• Dispose of waste materials, oil, fluids, and other shop refuse in accordance with safety and environmental regulations
• Sweep, mop, and pressure-wash floors and exterior surfaces regularly
• Organize and restock supplies, tools, and equipment as needed
• Empty trash receptacles and maintain dumpster areas
• Report maintenance issues, safety hazards, or equipment damage to management
• Follow all health, safety, and company protocols while working in an industrial environment
• Assist with general shop upkeep and special cleaning projects

• Reliable attendance and strong work ethic
• Physical ability to lift and move materials, stand for extended periods, and work in various shop conditions
• Willingness to follow safety protocols and company procedures
• Experience in custodial, maintenance, or similar roles is a plus
