Family Advocate – Head Start

The Centers is hiring a full-time Family Advocate for our Head Start program in Cleveland, Cuyahoga County. In this essential role, you'll be the first point of connection for families, helping children and caregivers access early childhood education, family support services, and community resources that strengthen our neighborhoods.

About the Role

As a Family Advocate, you'll serve as a trusted guide and connector for Head Start families. You'll engage directly with parents and guardians, conduct home visits, facilitate access to social services, and work collaboratively with our education and health teams to support family wellbeing and child development. This is meaningful work that builds trust, creates pathways to opportunity, and makes a tangible difference in children's lives before they enter school.

What You'll Do

• Build relationships with Head Start families through regular home visits, parent meetings, and one-on-one support
• Assess family needs and connect caregivers with local health, nutrition, mental health, employment, and educational resources
• Support family enrollment, attendance, and active participation in Head Start activities and events
• Collaborate with teachers, health coordinators, and social workers to address barriers to child development and school readiness
• Document interactions, maintain accurate case notes, and contribute to program evaluation and continuous improvement
• Advocate for families and help remove obstacles to service access and engagement

What We're Looking For

• High school diploma or equivalent; some college coursework or prior experience in family services, community outreach, or education preferred
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to build trust across diverse communities
• Genuine commitment to supporting families and children, particularly in low-income communities
• Ability to manage a caseload, organize information, and meet deadlines
• Reliable transportation and valid driver's license
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including some evening or weekend availability
