BNY Mellon seeks an experienced Specialist, Fund/Client Accounting II to manage fund accounting operations for our Private Equity team in our Bowling Green office in Manhattan. This full-time position involves four days on-site per week and plays a critical role in delivering accurate financial reporting and analysis for our clients and their investment funds.

About the Role

As Specialist, Fund/Client Accounting II at BNY Mellon, you'll oversee financial accounting and reporting functions for a portfolio of client accounts and investment funds. Your work ensures timely, accurate fund valuations, performance measurements, and regulatory compliance that our clients depend on for decision-making.

What You'll Do

  • Prepare and verify net asset value (NAV) calculations for assigned client funds, ensuring accuracy and adherence to valuation standards
  • Calculate and report fund performance metrics, including returns, attribution analysis, and benchmark comparisons
  • Process fund allocation transactions, distributions, and fee calculations with precision
  • Reconcile fund positions, account balances, and transaction records across multiple systems and data sources
  • Prepare accounting entries, journal postings, and financial statements for fund reporting and external audits
  • Maintain detailed documentation and audit trails for all accounting activities and transactions
  • Support regulatory compliance requirements, including tax reporting and investor communication materials
  • Collaborate with operations, technology, and client-facing teams to resolve accounting discrepancies and data integrity issues

What We're Looking For

  • 2–4 years of hands-on experience in fund accounting, private equity accounting, or alternative investment accounting
  • Solid understanding of net asset value calculations, fund valuation methodologies, and performance reporting
  • Proficiency with accounting software and financial systems; experience with dedicated fund accounting platforms preferred
  • Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, VLOOKUP, and financial modeling
  • Strong attention to detail with ability to manage multiple client accounts and competing deadlines
  • Clear communication and demonstrated ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams
  • Familiarity with hedge fund, private equity, or mutual fund structures a strong plus
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related discipline; CPA or active CPA candidacy valued
