Rocky Mountain Human Services is seeking a full-time Veterans Support Specialist in Stratmoor Hills, El Paso County, Colorado, to help veterans and their families access critical resources and build meaningful futures.
About the Role
As a Veterans Support Specialist, you'll serve as a dedicated advocate and guide for veterans navigating transitions into employment, housing, education, and community services. This role is essential to connecting veterans with the benefits, opportunities, and support networks they've earned and deserve.
What You'll Do
- Conduct intake assessments to understand each veteran's needs, goals, and circumstances
- Provide information and referrals to VA benefits, disability services, employment programs, and mental health resources
- Develop individualized support plans and track progress toward established goals
- Connect veterans with local employment opportunities, housing assistance, and educational pathways
- Coordinate with VA offices, employers, nonprofits, and government agencies to expand available resources
- Maintain accurate case documentation and participate in team meetings and training
- Provide compassionate, trauma-informed support during client interactions
What We're Looking For
- Passion for supporting veterans and understanding of military culture and service
- Strong communication, listening, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
- Experience in case management, social services, counseling, or veteran services preferred
- Knowledge of VA benefits, local resources, and Colorado Springs community services valued
- High school diploma or equivalent; bachelor's degree in social services, counseling, or related field a plus
