GFL Environmental is hiring a 2nd Shift Diesel Mechanic – B Tech for our Garner, Wake County service facility. This full-time position offers the opportunity to maintain and repair critical fleet vehicles in a structured, growing company.
About the Role
As a 2nd Shift Diesel Mechanic, you'll work from 2:00 PM to 1:00 AM, Monday through Friday, ensuring our diesel and compressed natural gas vehicles stay operational and ready for service. Working with shop leadership, you'll perform repairs and preventative maintenance to keep our fleet in top condition.
What You'll Do
- Repair and maintain diesel and CNG-powered vehicles
- Perform preventative maintenance schedules
- Diagnose mechanical and system issues
- Collaborate with shop supervision and team members
What We're Looking For
- B-Tech certification in diesel mechanics or equivalent experience
- Hands-on diesel engine and heavy-duty vehicle repair experience
- Experience or familiarity with CNG vehicle systems
- Valid driver's license
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Reliability and attention to detail
Compensation
- Starting wage: $30.00 per hour (based on experience)
- 2nd shift pay differential
- Monthly tool allowance
