Join E&D Children Center as a Part-Time Special Education Itinerant Teacher (SEIT) in New York City, New York. We're seeking bilingual Spanish-speaking special educators to provide direct services and support to preschool students in our CPSE program across schools, homes, and community settings.
About the Role
As a SEIT with E&D Children Center, you'll deliver individualized special education services to preschool-age children as part of New York City's Committee on Preschool Special Education (CPSE) program. Your work will span multiple environments—collaborating in classroom settings, supporting families in their homes, and facilitating learning in community spaces. This part-time position offers the flexibility to make a meaningful difference in early childhood development and educational equity.
What You'll Do
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to each student's unique learning needs
- Provide direct instruction and therapeutic support in accordance with special education best practices
- Assess student progress, document outcomes, and communicate regularly with families and school teams
- Adapt instructional strategies across diverse settings to maximize student engagement and success
- Collaborate with preschool teachers, therapists, administrators, and CPSE coordinators to ensure coordinated care
- Support bilingual learners by incorporating Spanish-language instruction as appropriate
What We're Looking For
- New York State certification or eligibility as a Special Education Teacher (preschool or early childhood focus preferred)
- Fluency in Spanish and English (verbal and written)
- Demonstrated passion for working with young children and families from diverse backgrounds
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to build trust with families and colleagues
- Flexibility, reliability, and willingness to work across different locations and community settings
- Knowledge of CPSE processes and preschool special education regulations
