Shonto Preparatory School is seeking a dedicated Middle School Teacher for Social Studies to join our team in the United States. This full-time position is available starting September 12, 2025, at a high-needs school committed to student success and meaningful education.
About the Role
We're looking for an experienced educator to lead our middle school social studies program. You'll inspire students to think critically about history, civics, geography, and social sciences while creating an inclusive, engaging classroom. What You'll Do
- Design and deliver comprehensive social studies instruction aligned with state standards for grades 6–12
- Develop engaging lesson plans that encourage critical thinking and civic understanding
- Use varied assessment strategies to measure student learning and progress
- Establish a positive, inclusive classroom environment that honors diverse learning needs
- Maintain open communication with families about student achievement and academic growth
- Collaborate with fellow teachers to strengthen instruction and support school initiatives
- Engage in professional development and contribute to continuous improvement efforts
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited institution
- ADE Standard Professional Secondary Certification, Grades 6–12
- Verified job-related teaching experience
- Demonstrated ability to plan instruction and assess student learning effectively
- Genuine commitment to supporting students in a high-needs school setting
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build trust with students and families
