Transportation HR Specialist

About the Role

The Transportation HR Specialist position focuses on delivering HR services to drivers, mechanics, dispatchers, and other transportation personnel. Working within Killeen ISD's Transportation Department, you'll handle employee-related matters, maintain compliance with district and state policies, and support the hiring and onboarding of transportation staff.

What You'll Do

• Manage recruitment, screening, and hiring processes for transportation positions including bus drivers, substitutes, and maintenance staff
• Process new employee paperwork, benefits enrollment, and onboarding documentation
• Maintain accurate employee records and ensure compliance with federal, state, and district HR policies
• Respond to employee inquiries regarding pay, benefits, policies, and personnel matters
• Coordinate required training certifications and licensing compliance for transportation employees
• Assist with employee relations issues and document personnel actions
• Support payroll and benefits administration activities
• Help coordinate employee wellness and retention programs

What We're Looking For

• High school diploma or equivalent; some college coursework or HR certification preferred
• 1–3 years of HR experience or equivalent HR-related background
• Proficiency with HR information systems and Microsoft Office
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Attention to detail and ability to maintain confidentiality
• Organized, proactive approach to managing multiple HR functions
• Familiarity with K–12 education or transportation operations is a plus
