Sr Application Architect

HCSC is hiring a Senior Application Architect in Helena, Lewis and Clark County to design and oversee the technical architecture of enterprise applications. This full-time position offers a senior technology leader the opportunity to ensure project designs align with business objectives and maintain architectural excellence across the organization.

About the Role

As a Senior Application Architect at HCSC, you will define the strategic direction of application systems and establish architectural governance across development teams. You'll evaluate emerging technologies, design solutions that scale, and ensure technical consistency while balancing innovation with operational reliability and business needs.

What You'll Do

• Lead the design and architecture of enterprise applications, ensuring alignment between technical solutions and organizational objectives
• Conduct architectural reviews and provide leadership on design patterns, technology selection, and system integration approaches
• Collaborate with product, engineering, and operations teams to define technical strategies and resolve complex architectural challenges
• Establish and maintain architectural standards, documentation, and best practices across development initiatives
• Mentor architects and senior engineers on architectural principles, design methodologies, and advanced technical concepts
• Assess and recommend technology platforms, frameworks, and tools that support organizational growth and scalability

What We're Looking For

• 10+ years of software development experience, with at least 5 years in a senior architecture or technical leadership role
• Demonstrated expertise in enterprise application design, microservices architecture, cloud platforms, or distributed systems
• Strong command of software design patterns, architectural principles, and system scalability best practices
• Proven ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to business stakeholders and cross-functional teams
• Experience guiding and influencing technical teams across organizational functions
• Track record of delivering mission-critical applications at enterprise scale
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent professional experience)
