About the Role
As part of the Aquatics Department, the Swim Coach supports the Clippers swim team by designing and delivering practice sessions, coaching athletes at meets, and fostering a positive, safe environment for swimmers of all ages.
What You'll Do
- Design and lead practice sessions that follow team objectives and USA Swimming standards.
- Teach proper stroke technique, starts, turns, and race strategies to swimmers of varying ability.
- Track athlete development, provide feedback, and modify training plans as needed.
- Oversee pool safety, enforce emergency procedures, and maintain a secure training environment.
- Communicate practice schedules, performance updates, and team news to swimmers and their families.
- Manage equipment, keep attendance and performance logs, and assist with meet organization.
- Obtain and maintain USA Swimming coach certification and complete any additional training required by Columbia Association.
What We're Looking For
- Demonstrated experience coaching competitive swimmers or a solid background in competitive swimming.
- Commitment to attend every scheduled practice and meet throughout the year.
- Strong communication skills for interacting with athletes, parents, and staff.
- Current CPR, First Aid, and AED certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Willingness to complete the USA Swimming coach certification process.
- Reliable, organized, and dedicated to supporting athlete growth and team spirit.
