This full-time, permanent night shift position offers the opportunity to deliver compassionate nursing care to mothers and newborns during a critical time in their healthcare journey.
About the Role
This Registered Nurse Acute (RN) position focuses on post-partum care and maternal recovery. You'll work a permanent night shift schedule consisting of three 12-hour shifts per week (36 hours), with every other holiday off and every third weekend rotation. The position is based in the HH Bliss Wing at 79 Jefferson Street.
What You'll Do
- Deliver direct clinical nursing care to post-partum patients, performing assessments and monitoring physical and emotional recovery
- Support maternal-newborn bonding, assist with feeding, and provide education on newborn care
- Monitor vital signs, administer medications, and respond to patient needs during night shifts
- Collaborate with physicians, midwives, and interdisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive post-partum treatment
- Educate patients and families on discharge planning and post-delivery recovery expectations
- Document patient care accurately and maintain clinical records within regulatory standards
What We're Looking For
- Current Connecticut RN licensure
- Clinical experience in acute care or post-partum nursing (preferred)
- Strong clinical assessment and interpersonal communication abilities
- Capability to work independently and collaboratively within a fast-paced nursing environment
- Demonstrated commitment to patient safety and quality nursing outcomes
- Flexibility to work night shifts and rotating weekend schedules
