About the Role
As a Graduate Nurse Resident, you'll complete a structured transition-to-practice program designed to bridge the gap between nursing education and independent clinical practice. Working collaboratively with your preceptor and the interdisciplinary rehabilitation team, you'll develop the clinical judgment, technical skills, and professional confidence needed to excel as a registered nurse. What You'll Do
- Provide direct patient care to individuals recovering from surgery or acute illness in our medical-surgical rehabilitation setting
- Assess patient conditions, monitor vital signs, and recognize changes requiring intervention
- Administer medications and treatments under preceptor supervision and within your scope of practice
- Maintain accurate, timely documentation of patient care and progress
- Collaborate with physicians, therapists, social workers, and other clinical staff to support patient recovery goals
- Educate patients and families about discharge planning, medications, and self-care strategies
- Demonstrate commitment to MyMichigan Health's Vision, Mission, and Values in every interaction
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing or Associate Degree in Nursing (recent graduate or currently completing licensure requirements)
- Licensure as a Registered Nurse in Michigan or readiness to obtain licensure
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with genuine commitment to patient-centered care
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team-based care model
- Clinical competency in basic nursing skills with readiness to expand knowledge and abilities
- Attention to detail, critical thinking, and accountability in patient safety
- Resilience, professionalism, and eagerness to learn from experienced mentors
