Theatre Arts Costume Shop

Dordt University is seeking a dedicated Costume Shop professional in Sioux Center to support our Theatre Arts program through expert garment construction, costume alteration, and shop management for theatrical productions.

About the Role

The Theatre Arts Costume Shop position is a part-time role within the Theatre Arts Department that directly supports our theatrical productions and educational mission. Your primary focus will be sewing and maintaining costumes for our stage productions. With flexible, variable hours that align with our production calendar, this position offers meaningful work in a collaborative creative environment.

What You'll Do

• Construct, sew, and alter costumes for theatre productions following designer specifications and patterns
• Maintain the costume shop workspace, keeping equipment organized and functional
• Organize and manage costume storage systems and inventory for easy access and preservation
• Perform additional costume shop duties as required to support production schedules
• Work collaboratively with designers, directors, and performers to meet costume requirements

• Proven experience with costume sewing, garment construction, and alterations
• Knowledge of theatre production and costume requirements
• Strong organizational and attention-to-detail skills
