Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant (COTA)

School District 49 is hiring a full-time Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant (COTA) to join our Special Services team in an itinerant staffing role across our US school district. As a COTA, you'll provide direct clinical support to students with diverse occupational therapy needs and work alongside our occupational therapy leadership to enhance student independence and school participation.

About the Role

This is a full-time, itinerant position within our Special Services Department. You'll travel across school sites to deliver occupational therapy services to students with IEPs and 504 plans. The role begins when filled and offers the chance to make a measurable difference in students' educational outcomes and daily functioning.

What You'll Do

• Implement individualized occupational therapy interventions and treatment plans under occupational therapist supervision
• Assist with functional assessments, developmental screenings, and progress monitoring for students
• Support students in fine motor skill development, hand-eye coordination, sensory processing, and adaptive activities
• Collaborate with teachers, special educators, and families to integrate OT strategies into classroom and home environments
• Maintain thorough clinical documentation and progress notes in accordance with school district and regulatory standards
• Travel between multiple school buildings to deliver services on a flexible, itinerant schedule

What We're Looking For

• Current COTA certification and valid licensure or equivalent credential as required by your state
• Strong clinical knowledge of occupational therapy principles and pediatric practice
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively with school-based multidisciplinary teams
• Excellent communication and documentation skills
• Flexibility and comfort with an itinerant schedule across multiple campuses
• Commitment to supporting students with diverse abilities and learning needs
