Director Environmental, Health and Safety

Lead environmental health and safety strategy as Director of Environmental, Health and Safety at GAF, a leading building materials company based in Saint Andrews, Charleston County. This is a full-time position for a visionary EHS leader to champion workplace safety, environmental compliance, and a strong safety culture across our operations.

About the Role

As Director of Environmental, Health and Safety at GAF, you'll take ownership of all aspects of our EHS program. You'll develop and execute comprehensive health and safety initiatives, ensure regulatory compliance, and foster a workplace where every team member goes home safe every day. What You'll Do

• Develop, implement, and oversee company-wide environmental health and safety policies, programs, and procedures
• Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other federal and state regulatory requirements
• Lead incident investigation, root cause analysis, and implementation of corrective actions
• Design and deliver safety training programs that build awareness and accountability across all levels
• Conduct risk assessments and safety audits to identify and mitigate workplace hazards
• Build and mentor an EHS team committed to excellence and continuous improvement
• Report on key safety metrics and performance trends to senior leadership
• Partner with operations teams to integrate safety into daily workflows and decision-making

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety, Industrial Engineering, or related field
• 7+ years of progressive experience in EHS, with at least 3 years in a director-level or equivalent leadership role
• Deep knowledge of OSHA regulations, EPA requirements, and applicable state and local environmental laws
• Proven track record of building and managing high-performing EHS teams
• Strong communication skills and ability to influence behavior change across an organization
• Experience with safety audits, incident investigation, and corrective action management
• Professional certifications such as CHSP, CSP, or OHST are preferred
