About the Role

What You'll Do

  • Conduct comprehensive legal research on state preemption statutes, constitutional doctrine, and civil rights precedent
  • Draft legal memoranda, briefs, motions, and supporting documents that advance litigation strategy
  • Partner across teams to identify legal theories and arguments that strengthen grassroots advocacy positions
  • Analyze case facts and applicable law to inform litigation decisions and external partner communication
  • Support litigation team members with case preparation, discovery management, and legal argumentation

What We're Looking For

  • Licensed attorney with strong legal research and persuasive writing capabilities
  • Demonstrated commitment to civil rights advocacy and work on behalf of marginalized communities
  • Creative problem-solving ability and willingness to tackle novel legal questions
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Experience collaborating effectively within nonprofit and mission-driven legal environments
  • Availability to work full-time on a temporary basis for this defined litigation initiative
