About the Role
As Guidance Counselor at Middletown Springs Elementary School, you will be a central resource for student development, family engagement, and school-wide support. Working within our Greater Rutland County Supervisory Union community, you will partner with teachers, administrators, and families to create an inclusive, supportive learning environment where every student can thrive.
What You'll Do
- Provide individual and small-group counseling to students, addressing academic, behavioral, and social-emotional needs
- Collaborate with classroom teachers and staff to support student success and positive school climate
- Connect families with resources, maintain open communication, and involve parents in their child's educational journey
- Maintain confidentiality and uphold professional ethical standards in all student and family interactions
- Deliver age-appropriate classroom guidance lessons promoting social skills, decision-making, and healthy relationships
- Contribute to a team-based, collaborative approach to student support across the PreK-6 school community
What We're Looking For
- Vermont school counselor licensure or equivalent state certification
- Master's degree in School Counseling, Counseling, or related field
- Experience working with elementary-aged students and families
- Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative, enthusiastic approach to school community building
- Commitment to confidentiality, diversity, and student-centered advocacy
