About the Role
This full-time position offers an excellent opportunity to deepen your own scientific knowledge while making a meaningful impact on your peers' academic journey. As a Student Desk Attendant, you'll staff the Science Learning Center desk and provide tutoring and mentoring support to students working through challenging science coursework. You'll help explain difficult concepts, guide students through problem-solving approaches, and foster a supportive environment where students feel confident asking questions.
What You'll Do
- Provide one-on-one and small group tutoring in biology, microbiology, and anatomy & physiology
- Explain complex scientific concepts and help students understand course material
- Guide students through problem-solving strategies and study techniques
- Staff the Science Learning Center desk and assist students with questions and resources
- Create a welcoming, supportive environment where students feel comfortable seeking help
- Contribute to the day-to-day operations of the learning center
What We're Looking For
- Strong understanding of or demonstrated success in biology, microbiology, or anatomy & physiology
- Excellent communication skills and ability to explain scientific concepts in clear, relatable ways
- Genuine enthusiasm for helping peers succeed academically
- Patient, professional demeanor and strong interpersonal skills
- Reliable attendance and commitment to supporting student learning
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
