Probation/Parole Officer 1 – Osceola/Creston

The State of Iowa is hiring a full-time Probation/Parole Officer 1 in Osceola and Creston, Clarke County. This position provides direct supervision and support services for individuals under state probation and parole oversight.

About the Role

As a Probation/Parole Officer 1, you'll supervise caseloads of individuals in community settings, ensuring compliance with release conditions while supporting rehabilitation and successful reintegration. This position is fundamental to public safety and community protection.

What You'll Do

• Conduct regular in-person visits at home, office, and community locations to monitor compliance with supervision conditions
• Assess and evaluate offender risk and rehabilitative needs to inform case management decisions
• Facilitate group counseling, educational programs, and treatment-focused sessions, including required evening hours
• Coordinate with law enforcement, treatment agencies, and community partners to support offender success
• Prepare detailed case reports and maintain comprehensive documentation of all supervisory activities
• Respond to violations of conditions and recommend appropriate interventions and sanctions

Work Schedule

This full-time position requires a flexible schedule of five eight-hour workdays per week, Monday through Friday, between 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m., with specific hours determined by supervisor discretion to maintain operational effectiveness. Evening hours are required at least once per week, and group facilitation responsibilities may involve additional evening availability. Core office hours each Friday are 8:00 a.m. through 4:30 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays are scheduled days off.
