About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated Special Education Teacher to provide high-quality instruction and support to students with individualized education programs (IEPs). Working within our school system, you will develop and implement specialized learning strategies tailored to each student's unique needs, collaborate closely with general education staff, families, and support services personnel, and contribute to a positive, inclusive school environment.
What You'll Do
- Design and deliver differentiated instruction that addresses the academic, social, and behavioral goals outlined in students' IEPs
- Conduct ongoing assessments to monitor student progress and adjust teaching strategies accordingly
- Collaborate with the special education team, general educators, and support staff to ensure consistent, coordinated student support
- Maintain detailed documentation of student performance, interventions, and progress toward IEP objectives
- Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding their child's academic and behavioral development
- Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to the planning and evaluation of specialized services
- Foster a safe, respectful learning environment that promotes student independence and social-emotional growth
What We're Looking For
- Valid West Virginia teaching certification in Special Education or eligibility to obtain certification
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution
- Strong knowledge of instructional strategies, behavior management, and special education law
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with students of varying abilities and learning profiles
- Excellent communication and organizational skills with commitment to collaborative partnerships
- Genuine passion for supporting student growth in an inclusive educational setting
