About the Role

As a Deputy District Attorney serving Trinity County, you will prosecute criminal cases with legal skill, integrity, and diligence. Working under the direction of the District Attorney's Office, you will handle complex criminal matters from investigation through trial, representing the interests of the state and community through thorough legal advocacy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct legal research on statutes, case law, and criminal procedure to support prosecution strategies
  • Represent the District Attorney's Office in court proceedings, arraignments, preliminary hearings, and trials
  • Prepare and file legal documents, motions, and briefs on behalf of the prosecution
  • Review police reports, evidence, and witness statements to evaluate charges and build cases
  • Coordinate with law enforcement agencies, witnesses, and victims to ensure case readiness
  • Examine witnesses and cross-examine defense witnesses during hearings and trials
  • Negotiate plea agreements and settlements when appropriate
  • Maintain accurate records and case files in compliance with legal and administrative standards

What We're Looking For

  • Juris Doctor degree and valid California State Bar license
  • Strong foundation in criminal law and legal research methodology
