Urban Planning Intern – Transportation (Fall 2026)

About the Role

Transportation planning shapes the future of urban mobility. As an Urban Planning Intern at our Manhattan office, you'll support the design and analysis of transit systems, land use patterns, and transportation infrastructure that connect communities. You'll gain practical experience across all phases of transportation planning—from research and analysis to stakeholder engagement and strategic recommendations.

What You'll Do

• Conduct transportation data collection and analysis, including traffic patterns, transit ridership, and travel behavior
• Assist in developing transportation plans, feasibility studies, and strategic recommendations for cities and agencies
• Create maps, visualizations, and reports using GIS software and planning tools
• Support community engagement activities, including meetings, surveys, and public comment analysis
• Research emerging transportation trends, technologies, and best practices
• Collaborate with senior planners, engineers, and clients to refine project approaches
• Contribute to presentations and documentation for internal and external stakeholders

What We're Looking For

• Current enrollment in or recent graduation from a degree program in urban planning, civil engineering, transportation, geography, or related field
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office; experience with GIS, mapping, or planning software is a plus
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
• Genuine interest in transportation planning and urban development
