Civil Design Technician – Survey

Kimley-Horn is seeking a skilled Civil Design Technician - Survey to strengthen our survey team based in Castlewood and Centennial, Colorado. This full-time position offers the opportunity to advance your technical expertise in civil design and surveying while contributing to diverse infrastructure and development projects across the Denver metro region.

About the Role

As a Civil Design Technician - Survey at Kimley-Horn, you'll play a critical role in translating field survey data into comprehensive, accurate technical documents and design exhibits. Working closely with licensed surveyors and project teams, you'll develop the technical drawings and analyses that serve as the foundation for planning, engineering, and construction across commercial, residential, and municipal projects.

What You'll Do

• Create detailed survey deliverables using AutoCAD Civil 3D, including subdivision maps, ALTA surveys, and topographic survey documents
• Process and analyze field crew data files and survey point information to produce accurate technical drawings
• Research boundary documents, easement records, and title information; conduct thorough boundary analysis to support project requirements
• Collaborate with survey crews, project managers, and design teams to ensure accuracy and completeness of all technical work
• Maintain quality control standards and coordinate revisions to meet client and regulatory specifications
• Support the preparation of exhibits and graphics for presentations and regulatory submittals

What We're Looking For

• Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D and demonstrated CAD drafting skills
• Working knowledge of surveying practices, terminology, and deliverable types including ALTA surveys, topographic surveys, and subdivision plats
• Experience reading and interpreting boundary documents, easements, and survey data
• Detail-oriented approach with strong organizational and communication abilities
• Ability to manage multiple projects in a collaborative team environment
• High school diploma or GED; associate degree or technical certification in surveying or civil technology preferred
