Head Counsel, Global Transactions & Contracts Legal – DD&T and BP

Takeda is hiring a Head Counsel, Global Transactions & Contracts Legal – DD&T and BP to join its legal team on-site in Cambridge, Massachusetts. This full-time leadership role is ideal for a seasoned transactional attorney ready to shape the contracting strategy behind Takeda's Data, Digital & Technology (DD&T) and Business Process (BP) functions.

About the Role

As Head Counsel for Global Transactions & Contracts Legal, you will serve as a trusted advisor to Takeda's DD&T and BP organizations, guiding complex commercial agreements from negotiation through execution. Based in Cambridge, Massachusetts, you will translate business objectives into sound, enforceable contracts while managing legal risk across a global, fast-moving technology and operations landscape.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the drafting, review, and negotiation of global transactions and commercial contracts supporting DD&T and Business Process initiatives.
• Partner with technology, procurement, and operational stakeholders to structure agreements that advance Takeda's strategic priorities.
• Identify, assess, and mitigate legal and contractual risk across cross-border engagements.
• Provide practical, business-focused legal counsel on data, digital, and technology matters.
• Help establish and refine contracting standards, templates, and best practices for the function.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor (JD) and active license to practice law in good standing.
• Substantial experience in transactional and commercial contracts law, ideally supporting technology, digital, or business process functions.
• Demonstrated leadership advising senior stakeholders in a global, regulated environment.
• Strong negotiation, drafting, and risk-management skills with a collaborative, solutions-oriented approach.
• Ability to work on-site in Cambridge, Massachusetts, as part of a full-time role.
